NYSC INTRODUCES DIGITAL TECHNIQUES IN STORE MANAGEMENT
The National Youth Service Corps has restated it’s commitment to modern techniques and good stock keeping practices as enshrined in the Federal Government adopted computerization process for its store officers across all NYSC formations nationwide.
It said the Scheme would continue to provide updated information on the administration and inventory control management of government stores such as Government Information and Financial Management Information System (GIFMIS), among others.
The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed disclosed this today in Abuja while declaring open the Store Officers’ Workshop with the theme; “Ensuring Accountability and Good Record Keeping in Contemporary Store Administration of the NYSC”.
General Ahmed stated that the significance of the workshop cannot be overemphasized as it would enhance timely procurement, distribution and tracking of items.
He said as custodians of vital resources, store officers are expected to be diligent, trustworthy and dedicated while also upholding the integrity of NYSC supply chain management.
“The programme will provide opportunity for skill enhancement, networking and peer review towards efficient service delivery.
I encourage you to participate actively and leverage on this opportunity to deepen the understanding of your responsibilities’, the DG said.
The Director General, who was represented at the workshop by the Director, Community Development Service and Special Projects, Hajiya Zainab Isah also disclosed that Management remains committed to enhancing staff welfare while also building capacity through more trainings that would sustain the NYSC excellent rating in service delivery.
The Director, General Services, Alhaji Yusuf Baba Abdullahi in his remarks stated that the workshop would enable the Store Officers to have a better understanding and appreciation of GIFMIS and its functionalities.
“They would also be educated on the online computerization process on store and asset management and above all, encourage Store Officers to wake up to their responsibilities as State Managers in their respective locations”, the Director said.
Resource Persons at the workshop include; Njoku Iyke and Steve Elijah both from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria, Abuja.
