FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF LAFIA (FULAFIA) BANS SIGN-OUT CELEBRATIONS AFTER FATAL TRICYCLE ACCIDENT
The Management of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) has placed an immediate ban on sign-out celebrations at the university’s Permanent Site Campus Gate, following a recent fatal accident involving two tricycles.
Sign-out celebrations — a tradition where final-year students sign shirts and engage in social activities to mark the completion of their studies — will now be restricted to individual faculty premises.
In a statement signed by the Registrar, Malam Nuradeen Abdu, the university emphasised that the use of public address systems during such events is strictly prohibited. Students are also barred from driving or running around in vehicles during the celebrations.
The statement warned that any breach of these rules would attract immediate disciplinary action, stressing that the directive aims to ensure student safety and prevent further avoidable tragedies.
Students have been urged to fully comply with the new guidelines in order to maintain a secure and responsible campus environment.
