UNIVERSITY OF AFRICA TORU-ORUA (UAT) HOLDS 7TH MATRICULATION CEREMONY
The University of Africa, Toru-orua, has successfully admitted 833 students drawn from 25 states of the Federation. The Bayelsa state owned University held her 7th Matriculation ceremony yesterday, 26th April, 2023 at the King Kpadia Mein Memorial Centre in Toru-orua, Bayelsa State.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Solomon Tamarabrakemi Ebobrah, congratulated the students and urged them to avoid persons with mischievous behaviors during their stay in the University. He ceased the opportunity to further stress the fact that UAT is a Bayelsa State owned University established to deliver accessible, quality, global standard tertiary education to all willing Nigerians and foreigners at very affordable costs. He therefore encouraged parents to cease the opportunity offered to bring their wards to UAT.
The Vice-Chancellor also noted that being the 7th Matriculation Ceremony, UAT is here to stay, adding that as members of the UAT family, the students have the opportunity of life coaching from the dedicated members of staff as well as fellow students who would share their positive experiences and challenges with them.
Speaking further, the Vice-chancellor paid special tribute to the founding fathers of UAT particularly His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Henry Seriake Dickson who bore and delivered the vision of UAT, while also thanking the Governor and Visitor to the University, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri for his continuous goodwill and support towards UAT. He however pleaded for more support from the Douye Diri led Government.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of cash awards to entrants of UAT with the highest JAMB scores. Cash gifts ranged from Twenty to Fifty Thousand Naira.
The Event was graced by several dignitaries among whom are the Pere of Tarakiri Clan, King Seiyefa Koroye, who was represented by High Chief Godwin Meze; HRH. Guslin Tounaregha, The Amananaowei of Toru-orua Community; The Amananaowei of Ofoni Community represented by High Chief Samson Poripo. Also present at the event was the Commanding Officer 16 Field Engineer Regiment of the Nigerian Army who was well represented by Capt. A.M Ubabu, in addition to family, friends and well wishers of the University of Africa Toru-orua.
