WAEC SET TO RELEASE WASSCE MAY/JUNE RESULTS NEXT WEEK

with around 1.6m candidates to know fate next week

Bearing any last minute change of date, the results of the May/June 2023 West African Examination Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) would be released next week.

The Nigeria National Office of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Mr. Patrick Areghan told Daily Sun that the WASSCE results taken by 1, 621, 873 candidates would be released next week in line with council’s 45 days release results after the end of the school exam.

The release of the WASSCE results would brighten the chances of candidates, who wrote the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as awaiting result candidates.

Areghan confirmed that the council concluded the marking of 76 subjects and made up of 197 papers on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 in 85 marking venues and one-e-marking center.

Areghan disclosed that many examiners finished marking two or three days ahead of the deadline date of August 1, 2023.

Said he: “The council is working round the clock to try to beat the deadline. Certainly, the school exam results will be made public next week. There was no problem during the marking of 76 subjects. Even in the South East, the sit-at-home did not affect our marking. The exercise went smoothly without any issue.”
