RSU APPROVES RELOCATION OF YEAR ONE AND YEAR THREE STUDENTS TO MAIN CAMPUS

The Rivers State University Governing Council has approved the relocation of selected Year One and Year Three students from the institution’s satellite campuses to the main campus in Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt. The decision was reached at the Council’s first regular meeting held on November 12, 2025.

The directive, communicated through a memorandum dated November 21, 2025 and signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, I.B.S. Harry, affects students in the Faculties of Agriculture, Humanities and Social Sciences.

According to the Council’s approval, Year Three students in the core departments of the Faculty of Agriculture are to return permanently to the main campus, while the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension will remain at the Abara-Etche satellite campus.

For the Faculty of Humanities at Ahoada campus, Year One students across the various departments are to be moved back to the main campus on a temporary basis pending the resolution of key infrastructural challenges.

A similar temporary relocation was approved for Year One students in the Faculty of Social Sciences at Emohua campus, with Management directed to fast-track infrastructure improvements.

The memo urged the affected faculties and departments to take note and implement the decision accordingly. A handwritten directive appended by Prof. Jones M. R. R., Dean of Humanities, further instructed circulation of the information to Heads of Departments for immediate action.
