LASU GETS NUC APPROVAL FOR FOUR NEW COMPUTING PROGRAMMES

Lagos State University has recorded another boost in its academic expansion as the National Universities Commission approved four new full-time programmes for the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology.

The approval, issued in a letter dated 3 November 2025 and signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei, followed a resource verification exercise carried out by NUC panels who inspected the University’s facilities, staffing and readiness for the proposed courses.

From the 2025/2026 academic session, LASU is cleared to run the following programmes:

• B.Sc. Cyber Security
• B.Sc. Software Engineering
• B.Sc. Information and Communication Technology
• B.Sc. Data Science

The development strengthens the University’s push to deepen technology-driven education and produce graduates equipped for Nigeria’s growing digital sector. The approval at this stage covers only full-time study.

With the addition of these programmes, Lagos State University continues to position itself as a leading institution in computing and innovative learning across the country.
