ALLEGED UNILAG CERTIFICATE ERROR LEAVES 361 FACULTY OF EDUCATION GRADUATES STRANDED

A Facebook post by Sheriffdeen Ojon Olorunfemi has stirred public reactions after revealing that more than 361 graduates of the Faculty of Education, University of Lagos (UNILAG) are yet to receive their correct certificates nearly two years after graduation.

According to Olorunfemi’s post, the affected students from the 2023 and 2024 academic sessions were allegedly issued certificates bearing Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) instead of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), the proper qualification for their courses.

The error, which remains unresolved, has reportedly hindered many of the graduates from securing employment or advancing academically.

Reacting under the post, Akinosho Rasheed lamented that someone he knows missed the TESCOM recruitment due to the certificate delay. Adedayo Adebayo described it as a “bloody error” and urged the university to “do the needful.”

Abdulateef Olayinka Adunbarin called the situation “very absurd,” adding that it is disappointing coming from an educational institution. Horlahamide Bello and Clement Mayowa Ajayi also condemned the development, with Ajayi describing it as “a big mistake that should never happen in the prestigious University of Lagos.”

Olorunfemi has appealed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, to urgently intervene and ensure the correct certificates are reissued to the affected graduates.
