NELFUND STUDENT LOAN APPLICATIONS SURPASS ONE MILLION, ₦116BN DISBURSED
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced that over one million applications have been received on its student loan portal since its launch on May 24, 2024.
According to a statement by NELFUND’s Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Akintunde Sawyerr, described the achievement as “a defining moment in Nigeria’s pursuit of equitable education financing.”
The Fund disclosed that more than ₦116 billion has so far been disbursed to students across universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, covering both institutional fees and upkeep allowances.
NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and continuous improvement in the loan process to ensure that every eligible Nigerian student, irrespective of background or location, can access financial support for education.
