FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY AKURE (FUTA) ANNOUNCES 36TH CONVOCATION CEREMONY
The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has officially released the timetable for its 2025 Convocation Ceremony, scheduled to commence on Friday, November 7, and conclude on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
According to the university management, the week-long activities will begin with a Press Briefing at 10:00 a.m. in the T. I. Francis Auditorium, followed by a Jumat Service at 2:30 p.m. at the FUTA Central Mosque, Obanla.
On Sunday, November 9, an Interdenominational Service will hold at 8:00 a.m. at Saint Albert Catholic Church. The Excellence and Productivity Award Ceremony follows on Monday, November 10, by 3:00 p.m. at the Afen Adebayo Multipurpose Hall.
The schedule for Tuesday, November 11, features a Career Talk at 10:00 a.m. in the T. I. Francis Auditorium, alongside an Exhibition beginning at the same time in the Afen Adebayo Multipurpose Hall.
Wednesday, November 12, will witness a Convocation Meeting at 9:00 a.m. in the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium, followed by a Novelty Football Match at 3:30 p.m. in the University Sports Complex. Later in the day, the Alumni Dinner and Award Night will take place at 5:00 p.m. in the Afen Adebayo Multipurpose Hall.
Activities for Thursday, November 13, include the Award of Diplomas and Certificates at 9:00 a.m. in the T. I. Francis Auditorium, and an Alumni Meeting/Lecture at 10:00 a.m. in the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium. The day rounds off with the Students’ Variety Show at 5:00 p.m. in the T. I. Francis Auditorium.
The main convocation events will be held on Friday, November 14, starting with the Commissioning of Projects at 8:00 a.m. across designated project sites. The highlight of the day will be the Award of First Degrees and Convocation Lecture at 10:00 a.m. in the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium. The lecture, titled “Technology, Governance, and Economic Challenges in Nigeria: The Roles of Government, Institutions, and the Youths”, will be delivered by Prince Adelusi-Adeluyi Kayode, OFR, a former Minister of Health.
The grand finale is slated for Saturday, November 15, featuring the Award of Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s, and Doctorate Degrees at 10:00 a.m. in the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium, followed by the Convocation Luncheon at 2:00 p.m. at the Vice Chancellor’s Lodge.
FUTA further advised all graduating students who have been cleared by the Admission and Records Division to appear in the approved academic gowns during the convocation procession. Gowns will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis upon presentation of proof of payment for the required charges. Graduands are also to collect their souvenirs, invitation cards, and other materials and visit the university’s website, www.futa.edu.ng, to download necessary convocation documents.
