NUC Approves Medicine and Allied Health Science Programmes for Federal University Kashere
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full approval for the establishment of four new academic programmes at the Federal University Kashere (FUK), Gombe State, to commence in the 2025/2026 academic session.
This was contained in an official letter dated 17th October 2025 and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of the University. The letter, with reference number NUC/AP/F30/VOL.I/72, was signed by Abubakar M. Girei, Acting Director of Academic Planning, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu.
According to the NUC, the approval followed a successful resource verification visit conducted by panels of experts to assess the human and material resources available for the proposed programmes.
The newly approved programmes are:
- MBBS, Medicine and Surgery
- B.Sc. Human Anatomy
- B.Sc. Human Physiology
- B.Sc. Pharmacology
The Commission emphasized that the approval covers only the full-time mode of study, noting that any intention to run the programmes on a part-time basis would require a separate approval from the NUC.
It further directed that the University must maintain the approved titles and nomenclature of the programmes, adding that any alteration would require prior authorization from the Commission.
The NUC also encouraged the University to ensure the continuous provision of adequate human and material resources to support the development and sustainability of the newly established programmes.
