LASU ISSUES DISCLAIMER ON FRAUDULENT ADMISSION EMAILS

The Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, has issued an official disclaimer in response to fraudulent emails being circulated to unsuspecting members of the public, falsely offering admission into the institution and demanding payment of acceptance fees through unauthorised links.

In a statement signed by Thomas-Onashile, Oluwayemisi A., Deputy Registrar/Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations, the University clarified as follows:

1. Fraudulent Email Addresses: The scam messages emanated from fake accounts not affiliated with LASU or the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). LASU stressed that all its official emails end with @lasu.edu.ng and never with free domains such as Gmail.
2. Candidate Not Offered Admission: The person cited in the fraudulent email has neither been shortlisted for admission by LASU nor offered admission via the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). All genuine admissions are processed strictly through JAMB CAPS and reflected on LASU’s official admission portal.
3. Payment Platform: LASU does not send payment links via email. All payments are strictly made through the University’s official e-payment platform accessible via www.lasu.edu.ng.
4. University’s Reputation: The institution dissociated itself from these fraudulent messages, describing them as attempts by criminal elements to defraud prospective students and damage LASU’s reputation.

The University therefore cautioned candidates, parents, and guardians to ignore such emails and to refrain from making payments through unauthorised links. It further advised the public to report suspicious messages to LASU authorities.

“LASU remains committed to upholding transparency, integrity, and excellence in all its admission processes,” the statement read.
