ASUU FUOYE Declares Indefinite Strike Over Unpaid Salaries
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has initiated an indefinite strike due to the non-payment of salaries. The strike began after a letter dated September 11, 2025, was sent to the university’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, notifying the administration of the union’s decision.
Details of the Strike
The strike is a direct result of the university’s failure to pay salaries by the third day of the month, which is in violation of a standing national directive from ASUU’s National Executive Council.
Reason for Strike: Non-payment of salaries.
Union’s Stance: The FUOYE chapter of ASUU, led by Comrade Fagbuagun O.A. and Comrade Ngwu Benitho, described the action as “total, indefinite, and comprehensive,” indicating that all academic activities, including lectures and examinations, have been suspended.
Duration: The union has stated that the strike will continue until all outstanding salaries are settled.
