MICHAEL OKPARA UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE UMUDIKE (MOUAU) ANNOUNCES VACANCY FOR THE POSITION OF VICE CHANCELLOR


The Governing Council of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), has announced the commencement of the process to appoint a new Vice-Chancellor, as the current tenure will expire on March 1, 2026.

 

In an official statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dr. (Mrs.) Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, the University invited applications from qualified candidates both within and outside the institution.

 

According to the advertisement, applicants for the top office must be highly distinguished scholars of professorial rank with at least ten years of experience at that level. Candidates are also expected to demonstrate academic and administrative leadership, integrity, excellent health, and a clear vision for the growth of the institution.

 

The position of Vice-Chancellor, regarded as the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University, comes with the responsibility of promoting teaching, research, innovation, and ensuring the welfare of both staff and students. The successful candidate will serve for a single term of five years.

 

The University, established in 1992, has continued to play a leading role in agricultural training, research, and innovation. With its vision to be the foremost institution for producing graduates in Agriculture, Science, and Technology, MOUAU has strong collaborations with national and international partners.

 

Interested candidates are required to submit 30 copies of their applications, detailed Curriculum Vitae, and a statement of vision for the University. They must also request three referees, including one from their current or last place of employment, to forward reference letters directly to the Registrar.

 

Applications, which must be submitted in sealed envelopes marked “Post of the Vice-Chancellor”, are to be addressed to the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, not later than six weeks from the date of publication.

 

The University noted that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
