UNILORIN Backs JAMB Registrar Over Transparent Handling of 2025 UTME Results
The University of Ilorin has publicly declared its strong support for the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), praising his transparent and courageous leadership in managing the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
In an official letter dated May 15, 2025, signed by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, the institution applauded the JAMB Registrar’s honesty and accountability in addressing the technical error that affected the results of over 300,000 candidates nationwide.

The Vice Chancellor noted that rather than shifting blame to the service provider responsible for the error, the Registrar took full responsibility—an action Professor Egbewole described as “an uncommon phenomenon in Nigeria.” He further commended the Registrar’s commitment to truthfulness and public accountability, affirming that nothing was hidden from the public throughout the process.
“As a University, we want to put on record that the Board approached the issues with truthfulness and integrity,” the letter read. “Your courage, honesty of purpose, strength of character, and sense of responsibility are worthy of emulation by the younger generation.”
UNILORIN went on to express pride in the Registrar as a distinguished alumnus of the university and a worthy ambassador, stating that the institution stands solidly behind him during and after the recent developments.
“We are indeed very proud of you,” the letter stated. “We pray that God will continue to lead you and grant you the grace to be of more invaluable service to our country.”
The University’s public backing of the JAMB boss adds a significant voice of support at a time when public institutions are increasingly being held to higher standards of transparency and accountability.
