MINISTER OF EDUCATION APPROVES NYSC MOBILIZATION FOR PART-TIME POLYTECHNIC GRADUATES

In a landmark decision, the Honorable Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, has approved the mobilization of polytechnic graduates who were previously excluded from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) due to part-time National Diploma (ND) studies.

This development comes after months of agitation, advocacy, and dialogue with relevant authorities, ensuring that students who completed their ND on a part-time basis and proceeded to full-time Higher National Diploma (HND) programs are no longer denied their constitutional right to participate in the NYSC scheme.

The Minister’s approval was announced during his recent visit to Yaba College of Technology, Lagos State, where he reassured affected students that he had approved a memo to the NYSC Director-General to facilitate their immediate mobilization. A meeting with the NYSC DG has been scheduled within the next two weeks to finalize the implementation of this directive.

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has hailed this decision as a victory for equity, justice, and fairness in Nigeria’s education system. NAPS has expressed its deepest appreciation to the Honorable Minister of Education for his swift intervention and commitment to resolving this long-standing issue.

The Minister’s dedication to inclusivity and fairness has rekindled hope among polytechnic students, reaffirming the government’s commitment to equitable educational policies. The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and other stakeholders who played a crucial role in pushing for this resolution have also been commended.
