NASARAWA STATE UNIVERSITY (NSUK) DENIES RUSTICATION REPORTS

Nasarawa State University, Keffi, has dismissed reports that 37 students have been rusticated for allegedly creating a WhatsApp group to plan protests.

In a statement, the university described the reports as “malicious and misleading,” stating that no student has been officially rusticated. The university explained that a committee was set up to investigate the alleged infractions, but its report has not been submitted to management for further action.

The university assured students that it remains committed to upholding their fundamental rights to freedom of speech and association. However, it warned that actions threatening the peace and stability of the university community will not be tolerated.

The statement appealed to students invited by the committee to cooperate fully and await the final outcome of the report, promising fairness and firmness.

The university also criticized media outlets and bloggers for publishing “spurious and sensationalized stories” without conducting due diligence, causing unnecessary panic and harm to the university’s reputation.

By dismissing the rustication reports, the university aims to maintain its commitment to academic excellence, integrity, and responsible citizenship.
