FEDERAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (TECHNICAL) GOMBE ANNOUNCES VACANCY FOR THE POSITION OF PROVOST
The Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe has announced the commencement of the application process for the position of Provost, calling on suitably qualified candidates to apply for the top administrative office.
According to the official advertisement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Bello, the Provost serves as the Chief Executive, Administrative and Accounting Officer of the institution, and is responsible for providing academic and professional leadership while ensuring the College meets its statutory objectives.
The Provost is expected to represent the College at all levels, serve as an ex-officio member of the Governing Council, and offer strategic direction for institutional growth.
Qualifications Required
Applicants must hold a PhD in a field relevant to the College’s programmes, particularly in Technical, Science or Vocational Education. They must also be registered members of an appropriate professional education body and possess a recognised teaching qualification such as NCE, PGDE, M.Ed, or TRCN certification.
Candidates must be below 55 years of age at the point of assumption of office and should have at least 15 years post-qualification teaching experience within the College of Education system. They must also have held senior academic and administrative positions, be Chief Lecturers with not less than five years cognate experience, and show evidence of scholarship, research, discipline, vision, and ICT proficiency.
The notice further requires demonstrable community service, strong leadership character, and the ability to formulate and implement a strategic plan for the College.
Terms and Application Procedure
The position carries a single, non-renewable tenure of five years with remuneration aligned with approved conditions of service for Provosts of Federal Colleges of Education.
Interested candidates are expected to submit 20 copies of their detailed Curriculum Vitae alongside a two-page vision statement for the College. Each application must be enclosed in a sealed envelope marked “PROVOST” at the top-left corner.
Referees’ reports are to be sent directly to the Registrar, who will only contact shortlisted candidates for the interview stage.
