FUNAAB MAKES HISTORY WITH MAIDEN MATRICULATION FOR AFFILIATED DEGREE STUDENTS AT FCAIB

A new chapter opened in Nigeria’s agricultural education sector on November 26, 2025, as the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) held its first-ever matriculation ceremony for students admitted into its affiliated Degree programmes at the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan (FCAIB).

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Kehinde, reaffirmed the University’s strong commitment to academic excellence, sound character formation and industry-driven training for all students under the affiliation partnership. He was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Olukayode Akinyemi.

Describing the event as a historic milestone, the Vice-Chancellor noted that matriculation formally ushers the students into the FUNAAB academic community, marking the beginning of a transformative journey designed to shape their knowledge, skills and values for global competitiveness. He added that the rite of matriculation signifies the start of years of learning, self-discovery and personal development.

Professor Kehinde expressed deep appreciation to parents and guardians for believing in FUNAAB and enrolling their wards through the FCAIB affiliation programme. He assured them of a supportive and enabling environment geared toward the students’ academic and personal success.

Charging the matriculating students, the Vice-Chancellor urged them to embrace resilience, discipline and commitment in their studies. He encouraged them to uphold FUNAAB’s culture of integrity and innovation while preparing themselves to contribute meaningfully to national growth and the wider global community.

The ceremony, conducted by the Registrar, Dr Titus Adeniyi, was attended by key officials including the Academic Coordinators of FCAIB and Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Professors Christopher Alake and Emmanuel Idehen, respectively, as well as the FUNAAB Students’ Union Government President, Comrade Olamilekan Michael.
