FUOYE APPOINTS PROF. JOSHUA OGUNWOLE AS NEW VICE-CHANCELLOR

The Governing Council of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has appointed Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, a renowned soil ecosystem expert, as the institution’s new Vice-Chancellor.

Professor Ogunwole, who currently serves as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Strategic Partnership, Research, Innovation and Linkages, will officially assume office in February 2026, succeeding Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina as the fifth substantive Vice-Chancellor of FUOYE.

According to a statement issued by the University’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Foluso Ogunmodede, the appointment was approved during the Council’s meeting held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, presided over by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba (SAN).

“Today, Thursday, November 6, 2025, brings to an end a very long and difficult process of getting a new Vice-Chancellor for FUOYE,” the statement read. It noted that the selection process began in August following a public advertisement for the position.

Addressing the Council, Senator Ndoma-Egba urged all stakeholders to embrace peace and unity following the conclusion of the selection process.
“The appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor has brought rancour and acrimony to the campus and outside it. By this appointment, all these should stop. I advise all applicants to sheathe their swords and join hands with the new Vice-Chancellor to build the University,” he said.

The Pro-Chancellor commended the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, for his outstanding service and transformative leadership.
“You are going out with confidence and your head held high. You have done well in infrastructure development and administration. I congratulate you,” Ndoma-Egba stated.

He also appreciated members of the Governing Council for their dedication and professionalism throughout the appointment process.

The Pro-Chancellor thereafter presented the official letter of appointment to Professor Ogunwole, marking the beginning of a new chapter in FUOYE’s academic leadership and development.
