AFIT MATRICULATES NEW STUDENTS, URGES THEM TO BE GOOD AMBASSADORS

The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Kaduna, on Thursday matriculated new students admitted under the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and National Universities Commission (NUC) programmes for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The 8th matriculation ceremony, which officially marked the end of the admission process, saw the new students taking the Institute’s Oath of Allegiance, signifying their full membership of the AFIT community.

Speaking at the event, the Guest of Honour and Director General of the Air Force Research and Development Institute (AFRDI), Air Vice Marshal A. G. Kehinde, congratulated the students and reminded them of the Institute’s central role in driving technological advancement within the Nigerian Air Force.

He described AFIT as a centre of excellence in aerospace engineering, avionics, aircraft maintenance, cyber technology, and allied disciplines, noting that its curriculum combines theoretical learning with practical applications to produce graduates capable of solving real-world problems.

AVM Kehinde urged the matriculating students to approach their studies with dedication, stressing that the future of aviation and defence technology depends on their commitment and innovation. He also praised the AFIT management for maintaining high academic standards and promoting research and innovation.

In his remarks, the Commandant of AFIT, Air Vice Marshal Sani Labaran Rabe, represented by his Deputy, Air Vice Marshal Albert Bot, advised the students to be law-abiding and disciplined. He warned against acts of indiscipline such as cultism, examination malpractice, and indecent dressing, urging them instead to be good ambassadors of the Institute.

The Provost of the Institute, Professor Auwal Kasim, disclosed that the admission process was transparent and merit-based. He explained that all admitted students surpassed the national average cut-off score, adding that AFIT remains one of the most sought-after tertiary institutions in the North-West region.

He urged the new students to make the most of the opportunity to study in an institution renowned for its commitment to academic excellence and technological innovation.
