ASUU SUSPENDS TWO WEEK WARNING STRIKE

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has announced the suspension of its ongoing warning strike, calling on the Federal Government to urgently address all unresolved issues contained in the 2009 FGN/ASUU Agreement.

The decision was made following an emergency meeting of the union’s National Executive Council (NEC) held in Abuja.

Addressing journalists after the meeting, ASUU President, Dr. Chris Piwuna, said the suspension of the strike takes effect from midnight, Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

Dr. Piwuna emphasized that the union would not hesitate to resume the strike if the government fails to meet its demands within one month.

He further appealed to patriotic Nigerians and key stakeholders in the education sector to prevail upon the government to speed up the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement and address all other outstanding issues affecting the nation’s universities.
