NUC APPROVES FOUR NEW PROGRAMMES FOR FUTA
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of four new academic programmes at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), to commence from the 2025/2026 academic session.
In a letter dated 17th October, 2025, and addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of FUTA, the NUC disclosed that the approval followed a successful resource verification visit by panels of experts who assessed the human and material resources available for the proposed programmes.
The newly approved full-time programmes include:
- B.Tech. Financial Technology
- B.Tech. Procurement Management Technology
- B.Tech. Entrepreneurship Management
- B.N.Sc. Nursing Science
According to the letter signed by Abubakar M. Girei, Acting Director of Academic Planning, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, the approval covers only the full-time mode of the programmes, adding that any request for part-time delivery must be separately processed and approved by the Commission.
The NUC further directed that the programmes must bear only the approved titles and nomenclature, stressing that any future change will require the Commission’s consent. The university was also urged to ensure the provision of adequate human and material resources for the smooth take-off and growth of the programmes.
The letter was issued under reference number NUC/AP/F15/VOL.II/64 and signed from the NUC Secretariat, Maitama, Abuja.
