FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION ZARIA (FUEZ) SECURES NBTE APPROVAL TO OPERATE AS A SKILLS TRAINING CENTRE


The Federal University of Education, Zaria (FUEZ) has received approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to operate as a Skills Training Centre (STC) under the Directorate of Skills Development and Linkages (DSD&L).

According to a statement signed by Yushau A. Usman, Desk Officer of DSD&L, the NBTE granted the university a Certificate of Approval, marking a major step toward strengthening vocational education and youth empowerment.

The approved skills training areas include:

  • Fashion Design and Garment Making

  • Solar PVC Installation and Maintenance

  • Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology

  • Painting, Decoration, and Finishing

  • Hospitality and Catering Training

  • Livestock Farming

  • Plumbing and Pipe Fitting

  • Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning

  • Woodwork, Carpentry, and Joinery

  • Electrical Installation

  • Welding and Fabrication

  • Computer Hardware Repairs and Maintenance

  • Home Electrical Appliances Repairs and Maintenance

Under the arrangement, the Sectoral Awarding Body will be responsible for assessing trainees, while the National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) will issue certificates based on the awarding body’s recommendations.

“This milestone is a significant achievement for the University and reinforces its commitment to skills acquisition, vocational education, and youth empowerment,” the statement read.
