LASU CENTRE FOR AFRO-BRAZILIAN STUDIES OPENS 2025 ADMISSION INTO PORTUGUESE PROGRAMMES
The Lagos State University Centre for Afro-Brazilian Studies (LASUCAS) has announced the commencement of admission into its various Portuguese and Afro-Brazilian studies programmes for the new academic session.
In a statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. Emmanuel A. Fanu, the programmes are designed to provide academic and professional training for candidates interested in Portuguese language, Brazilian studies, and Yoruba language for foreigners.
Among the programmes available are:

CELPE-Bras Training Programme: A six-month intensive course to prepare candidates for Brazil’s Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese Language, which qualifies Nigerian students for Brazilian government scholarships.

Diploma in Portuguese and Brazilian Studies: A two-year, part-time diploma programme that provides entry into LASU’s degree in Portuguese/English.

Certificate in Portuguese and Brazilian Studies: A six-month, part-time certificate course for those seeking opportunities in Lusophone countries.

Proficiency Certificate in Yoruba for Non-Native Speakers: An eight-week full-time programme targeting foreigners, especially Brazilians, with interest in Yoruba language, literature, and culture.
According to LASUCAS, application forms are available on the LASU website (www.lasu.edu.ng/lasucas) at a cost of ₦10,000, while foreigners applying for the Yoruba proficiency course are required to pay $50.
The centre disclosed that interested candidates must meet the specific admission requirements for each programme, ranging from O’Level credits and work experience to university degrees for postgraduate applicants.
The statement added that application closes six weeks from the date of the announcement.
