FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND MEDICAL SCIENCES ABEOKUTA (FUMMSA) EXTENDS POST-UTME APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR THE 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION
The Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA), has announced an extension of the application deadline to 3rd of September, 2025.
According to the management, admission into the university this year will strictly follow clearly defined requirements. Candidates must have a minimum of five credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics at the O’Level. In addition, applicants must have scored not less than 200 in the 2025 JAMB and must be at least 16 years old by August 31st, 2025.
For the 2025/2026 academic session, the screening process will only involve the use of O’Level and JAMB results. Management, however, explained that starting from subsequent years, a Post-UTME examination will be added to the process.
The grading system for O’Level subjects (Biology, Chemistry, English Language, Mathematics, and Physics) is as follows:
A1 = 6 points
B2 = 5 points
B3 = 4 points
C4 = 3 points
C5 = 2 points
C6 = 1 point
A candidate’s O’Level score will be calculated using the formula:
O’Level Score = (Points Earned ÷ 30) × 50
Similarly, the JAMB score will be rated over 50 using the formula:
JAMB Score = (Candidate’s JAMB Score ÷ 400) × 50
The total Post-UTME score for each candidate, known as FPUTME, will therefore be:
FPUTME = O’Level Score (over 50) + JAMB Score (over 50)
The cut-off points for various programmes will be determined based on the overall performance and the number of applicants.
The university emphasized that interested candidates must first carry out a change of institution to FUMMSA through the JAMB portal. However, this process will only be available from Monday, with applications commencing fully from Tuesday. Importantly, FUMMSA will only consider candidates who select it as their First Choice institution, as Second or Third Choice candidates will not be eligible.
Meanwhile, the university announced that it will not be accepting Direct Entry (DE) or inter-university transfer applications for this year. These options are expected to be available starting from the 2026 admission cycle.
Information regarding school charges and the Post-UTME form will be communicated in due course.
For further inquiries, candidates and guardians can visit the FUMMSA Liaison Office at FUNAAB Campus, Alabata Road, Abeokuta.
