NELFUND ISSUES NEW GUIDELINES ON STUDENT UPKEEP LOAN DISBURSEMENT

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has rolled out new guidelines on student upkeep loans, making them strictly tied to each institution’s academic session.

According to the directive, upkeep payments will automatically stop once an institution’s academic year concludes. Students moving into a new session will therefore no longer receive disbursements for the previous one.

Important Notice from NELFUND:

1. Students must apply for a loan at the beginning of every academic session to access both institutional charges and upkeep for that year.

2. Institutions are strongly advised to upload their academic calendars and sessional details on time so students can enjoy full upkeep benefits.

The Fund also announced that its loan portal is being automated to reflect the adjustment, ensuring transparency by displaying only upkeep loans collected by each student within the valid academic session.

“NELFUND remains committed to providing accessible, fair, transparent, and effective loan support for Nigerian students. We count on the cooperation of all stakeholders in ensuring smooth implementation of this directive,” said Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND.
