FUTA Commends JAMB Registrar, Oloyede, Over Handling of 2025 UTME Glitches

The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), has commended the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, for his transparent and responsible handling of the technical glitches recorded during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In a letter addressed to Professor Oloyede and personally signed by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, the university praised the JAMB boss for taking full responsibility for the hitches and initiating corrective measures, including a directive for affected candidates to retake the examination.

“The candour displayed by the Registrar in taking responsibility for the inadvertent glitches and taking steps to make amends through ordering the retaking of the examination by affected students is the hallmark of good leadership, sense of responsibility, responsiveness, and an affirmation of his total commitment to transparency, good governance, and repositioning the organization for better service delivery,” the letter stated.

FUTA also noted that while no system is perfect, the willingness of JAMB to reevaluate its processes and introduce timely adjustments reflects its commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence.

“We hold and believe that no system is perfect, and periodic reevaluation and fine-tuning are key inbuilt parameters to ensure better and optimal service delivery on the core mandates of organizations,” the statement read.

According to the university, JAMB’s swift response and the direct leadership of Professor Oloyede in overseeing the resolution process demonstrate a high standard of institutional governance.

“That JAMB has such an inbuilt mechanism, which has already been deployed to respond to the current situation, and that the process is being led by its Chief Executive, is proof positive of its good governance under Professor Ishaq Oloyede,” the letter added.

The commendation comes amid ongoing efforts by JAMB to rebuild confidence in the examination process following technical challenges encountered by some candidates during the 2025 UTME.
