SULE LAMIDO UNIVERSITY (SLU) SECURES FULL NUC ACCREDITATION FOR 12 ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to twelve undergraduate programmes offered by Sule Lamido University (SLUK), Kafin Hausa, Jigawa State.
The development was communicated to the institution via an official letter dated April 30, 2025, with reference number NUC/ES/412/VOL.14/387, signed by the Acting Director of Accreditation, Engr. Abraham Chundusu. This follows the NUC’s accreditation visitation to the university, conducted between October and November 2024.
According to the letter, five programmes under the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences — B.Sc. Accounting, B.Sc. Business Management, B.Sc. Economics, B.Sc. Geography, and B.Sc. Sociology — all received full five-year accreditation.
Similarly, in the Faculty of Education, full accreditation was granted to B.A. (Ed) Arabic, B.A. (Ed) Hausa, B.A. (Ed) Islamic Studies, B.Sc. (Ed) Computer Science, and B.A./B.Sc. (Ed) Library and Information Science.
In the Faculty of Humanities, the B.A. English programme secured full accreditation, while in the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences, B.Sc. Biology also received full accreditation status.
Vice-Chancellor of SLUK, Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Yakasai, described the development as a significant achievement that reflects the university’s commitment to quality education and academic excellence. He stated that the outcome confirms SLUK’s steady progress toward fulfilling its mission and vision.
The NUC’s decision is based on its mandate, as provided under Section 10(1) of the Education Act CAP E3 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, to set academic standards and accredit programmes in Nigerian universities.
