Fountain University Backs JAMB Registrar Amid UTME Glitch, Praises Oloyede’s Courageous Leadership

Fountain University, Osogbo, has publicly commended the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, for his bold and transparent handling of the recent issues surrounding the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In an official statement signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olayinka Ramota Karim, the institution praised Prof. Oloyede for displaying uncommon courage and responsibility after it was revealed that technical and human errors had affected the UTME results of nearly 380,000 candidates across Lagos and the South-East.

While addressing the press on May 14, 2025, Prof. Oloyede took full ownership of the situation without shifting blame. He immediately ordered a rescheduled examination for the affected candidates and launched an internal technical audit to prevent similar issues in the future.

“Rather than offering excuses, Prof. Oloyede offered solutions. His actions are a shining example of leadership, transparency, and accountability,” Fountain University stated.

The university noted that Prof. Oloyede’s character was never in doubt, citing his history of integrity, from his time as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin to his exceptional contributions as Fountain University’s second Pro-Chancellor.

“His reforms at JAMB have brought digital innovation, restored public trust, and ensured credible examination processes. Institutions like ours have directly benefitted from these reforms through more transparent and reliable admissions,” the university added.

Fountain University urged Nigerians to celebrate Prof. Oloyede’s approach, describing it as a rare act of responsibility in public service, and encouraged other leaders to emulate his example.

“This should not be seen as a failure, but as a masterclass in ethical leadership. We stand firmly with Prof. Oloyede, not just as an alumnus of this great institution, but as a man who continues to inspire faith in our education system,” the statement concluded.

The university also prayed on guidance for Prof. Oloyede and other education leaders as they strive to build a more accountable and resilient sector.
