JAMB LAUNCHES IMMEDIATE REVIEW AMID ALLEGATIONS OF TECHNICAL GLITCHES IN 2025 UTME
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has acknowledged receiving a large number of unusual complaints following the release of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results last Friday.
In a statement released over the weekend, JAMB said it was concerned about the nature and volume of the complaints, especially those emanating from certain states across the country. The Board disclosed that it has fast-tracked its annual post-examination review process to investigate the concerns thoroughly.
According to the statement signed by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, the Board usually conducts a comprehensive system audit months after each UTME. This audit covers the entire process from registration to the conduct of the exam and the release of results.
However, due to the current situation, the review has been brought forward.
“We are particularly concerned about the unusual complaints originating from a few states within the Federation. We are currently scrutinising these complaints in detail to identify and rectify any potential technical issues,” Dr. Benjamin stated.
He assured candidates and the public that the Board is working with a team of independent experts to get to the root of the matter. These include members of the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria, Chief External Examiners (who are also heads of tertiary institutions), experts from the Educational Assessment and Research Network in Africa, as well as measurement specialists and Vice Chancellors.
“If it is determined that there were indeed glitches, we will implement appropriate remedial measures promptly, as we do in the case of the examinations themselves,” the statement read.
JAMB also reiterated its commitment to ensuring that every candidate is given a fair chance to write the exam. In situations where technical hitches prevent candidates from participating, the Board said it has a standing policy of rescheduling affected candidates without delay.
As investigations continue, the Board has urged affected candidates to remain calm and await further communication.
