LASU STUDENT GOES MISSING AFTER LAGOS DELIVERY: FEARS RISE OVER POSSIBLE SET-UP

Concern is growing within the Lagos State University (LASU) community following the disappearance of a student, Adeoti Ayobami Anu (Matric No: 232301203011), who has not been seen or heard from since the morning of Monday, April 29, 2025, between 10:00 am and 11:00 am.

Ayobami, a student of the English Education Department, Module 2, is also an entrepreneur known for selling perfumes and fragrances to support herself while in school. According to reports from friends, she received a call from an individual allegedly based in Abuja, who requested a delivery of fragrance products. The caller instructed her to hand over the items to a middleman in Lagos, who would then facilitate the onward delivery to Abuja.

The agreed meeting point was initially Oshodi, Lagos. However, shortly before the rendezvous, the recipient reportedly called to redirect her to Cele, another location within Lagos. Upon arrival at Cele, Ayobami attempted to contact a friend to share her whereabouts, but the call was disrupted by poor network quality. When her friend tried to call back, her phone had already been switched off — and it has remained unreachable since.

Worried by her sudden silence, friends reached out to the initial Abuja-based buyer, who responded cooperatively and provided the contact information of the Lagos recipient. However, the situation took a suspicious turn when the recipient claimed that Ayobami was allegedly being tracked for involvement in a Point of Sale (POS) fraud case, possibly linked to a fraudulent transfer conducted via a POS machine — though her exact involvement remains unclear.

Further raising alarm, the Lagos contact stated that they were at a police station under a court order from Kaduna State, but declined to reveal the specific police station’s name or location. The lack of transparency has intensified fears among students and friends that Ayobami may have been misled or lured into danger under false pretenses.

“This is highly suspicious and disturbing,” said Samuel Johnson, Public Relations Officer for Module 2. “Her safety is our priority, and we are pleading for immediate action from the authorities.” The statement was also signed by Ogundero Tomiwa, GHOC of Module 2.

As the hours turn into days, the LASU community is appealing to the Lagos State Police Command, university authorities, and the general public to assist in locating Adeoti Ayobami Anu and ensuring her safe return.

Anyone with credible information is urged to report to the nearest police station without delay.
