LAGOS STATE GOVT GIFTS LASU BEST GRADUATING STUDENT ₦10M AS REWARD FOR ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has gifted the best graduating student of the Best State University, Lagos State University (LASU), NWOSU ISIOMA SYBIL, a sum of N10 million at the 28th Convocation Ceremony.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State and visitor to the Lagos State University (LASU) ably represented by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, while giving his address on the 7th Day and Grand Finale of the 28th Convocation Ceremony, the conferment of honorary degrees and rank of distinguished professors, held on the 10th day of April,2025 at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, LASU Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos State announced this.

NWOSU ISIOMA SYBIL, from the department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science with CGPA 4.93 emerged LASU Best Graduating Student at 28th Convocation Ceremonies.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello made this known during the Convocation press conference with the invited Media Partners. she said

“Among the 8,711 students graduating with first degree programmes form the university, 192 came out with first class honors and 17 with Unclassified (MBBS/BDS) Degrees, 3076 graduated with Second Class Upper Division, 4397 with Second Class Lower Division, 990 with third class and 39 with a pass…. I am delighted to announce Nwosu Isioma Sybil as our overall best graduating student” she said.

Speaking at today’s event, the Lagos State Deputy Governor made these remarks: “you are very brilliant…your exceptional academic achievement is a fine example…and you know that last year, the best student got an award of 10 million naira so you will get the same 10 million naira”.

Recall that Governor Sanwo-Olu had, in 2024, gifted N10 million to LASU’s best graduating student in the 2022/2023 session, Olaniyi Olawale.
