UNIBEN Management Issues Stern Warning to Staffs Over Unapproved Project Supervision Fees
The University of Benin has issued a stern warning to staff members who have been collecting unapproved charges from students for project supervision. The university management has received disturbing reports of staff victimizing and frustrating students who refuse or are unable to pay the unauthorized fees.
According to a memorandum issued by the Registrar, A.A. Bobola, this practice not only tarnishes the university’s image but also damages its academic profile. The university management emphasized that such actions contravene the provisions of the Regulations Governing the Service of Senior Staff of the University.
Staff involved in this illegal practice are warned to desist immediately, as it constitutes gross misconduct that will attract severe sanctions. Deans and Directors of Institutes have been directed to disseminate this warning to all staff and establish modalities to monitor their activities and ensure compliance with university rules and regulations.
This move is part of the university’s efforts to maintain transparency and accountability in its academic processes.
