Federal Govt of Nigeria declares Public Holidays to mark 2025 Eid-el-Fitr Celebration


The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced that Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, will be public holidays to commemorate the Eid-el-Fitr celebration. This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

In a statement, Dr. Tunji-Ojo congratulated the Muslim Ummah on completing the Ramadan fast and urged them to embody the values of self-discipline, compassion, and generosity. He emphasized the importance of love, forgiveness, and solidarity in building a harmonious society.

The Minister also called on Nigerians to use this festive period to pray for peace, stability, and prosperity. He expressed hope that Eid-el-Fitr would inspire unity and cooperation across religious and ethnic lines.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and remember the less privileged through acts of kindness and charity. On behalf of the Federal Government, he extended heartfelt Eid Mubarak wishes to all Muslim faithful.

The declaration was signed by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary, on March 26, 2025.
