PROF. JIDE PETER EMERGES NEW DEAN OF LASU FACULTY OF COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA STUDIES
In an unanimous decision, Professor Jide Peter Jimoh has emerged as the new Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies at the Lagos State University (LASU).
The election, which took place on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the Digital Media and Research Centre, Ojo Campus, saw Professor Jimoh running unopposed. The Faculty’s Returning Officer, Mrs. Titilola N. Ogunshote, officially declared Professor Jimoh the winner.
The Board of Studies of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies subsequently ratified the election result.
In his acceptance speech, Professor Jimoh pledged to leverage his wealth of knowledge and leadership experience to drive advancement and foster excellence within the faculty and the university at large.
He vowed to uphold the values, standards, and processes that define the faculty, promote academic excellence, support the welfare of faculty members, and defend the interests of students.
Professor Jimoh also emphasized his commitment to encouraging innovation and technology in service delivery.
He is expected to assume office on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, succeeding Professor Sunday Olayinka Alawode, whose tenure expires on Monday, March 3, 2025.
The university community has welcomed Professor Jimoh’s election, expressing optimism that he will take the faculty to greater heights.
