
UNIZIK Expels Female Student for Assaulting Lecturer
Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has expelled a 300-level student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, from the Department of History and International Studies, for assaulting a lecturer, Dr. Chukwudi Michael Okoye.
According to a statement released by the university’s management, the student was found guilty of gross misconduct and violating the university’s disciplinary regulations, particularly Regulation 4 (SDR).
The incident occurred when Dr. Okoye interrupted the student while she was recording a dance video in the faculty corridor. The situation escalated into a physical confrontation, with the student biting the lecturer on both arms.
The university’s Students Disciplinary Committee (SDC) gave the student a fair hearing and recommended her expulsion. The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Joseph I. Ikechebelu, approved the recommendation on behalf of the University Senate.
The university has directed the student to vacate the premises immediately and return all university property in her possession. The management has reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline and ensuring a safe and conducive environment for learning.
