DELTA STATE UNIVERSITY (DELSU) MATRICULATES 1869 UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS FOR THE 2024/2025 ACADEMIC SESSION

Matriculation ceremony remains a significant ritual in the higher institution as it authenticate full rights of studentship on an individual admitted into the four walls of a university. The long awaited occasion took place yesterday, being Saturday, First February, 2025. It was indeed a God giving day as the sky was smiling in blue with a clement weather to get all funs without any discomfort from cloud appearance .

The people’s Vice- Chancellor, Professor Samuel O. Asagba, who is giving Delta State University, Abraka an enlightened and transparent leadership, felicitated the new admitted students for scaling through the hurdles encountered during the JAMB and Post UTME exercises to be among the “few ” who were chosen in the yearly race for admission amongst over 20,000 candidates who applied for admission.

The Professor of Biochemistry, Prof. Samuel Asagba, presiding over yesterday’s occasion as his first matriculation ceremony as the 8th substantive Vice- Chancellor of the Delta State University, Abraka since resumption of office on the 1st of December, 2024, boldly announced to the audience that DELSU have been fully accredited by the National University Commission (NUC) hereby giving the varsity an unprecedented authority to teach those courses without impediments. While congratulating the 8,598 freshers who were admitted across 13 Faculties of the University, he urged them to shun all forms of Vices that transgress the regulations of the University which can jeopardize the successful completion of their studies and the attainment of their life dream. Prof. Asagba expressed his profound gratitude to the Executive Governor and Visitor to the Delta State University, Abraka, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori and the Delta State Government for the giant strides taken in the overall development of the University. He however, promised that the University will remain focused in its pursuit of academic excellence and render prudent management of the meager resources of the University for its overall development.

Administering the Matriculation oath to the Students , the first female Registrar of DELSU, Mrs Rufina Ufiofio, re-emphasized all the “do” and “don’t”earlier pointed out by the VC. She urged them to obey the University prospectus and respect all existing staff of the University.

Abraka and Oleh campuses were filled with different people from all works of life and from different geographical locations that came to make the auspicious occasion worth celebrating and memorial to the matriculating students.
