UNILORIN appoints JAMB Registrar Oloyede and two others as emeritus professors


The University of Ilorin has conferred emeritus professor titles on three distinguished retirees, recognizing their remarkable contributions to academia. The honored individuals are Prof. Is’haq Oloyede, Prof. Olu Obafemi, and Prof. Musbau Akanji.¹

Prof. Oloyede, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, retired in October 2024. He currently serves as the Registrar and Chief Executive of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).²

Prof. Obafemi, a renowned scholar of English and Dramatic Literature, retired from the University of Ilorin in 2020. His impressive academic career spans over four decades, with numerous publications and awards to his name. Notably, he delivered a thought-provoking convocation lecture at the Federal University Lokoja in October 2023 and received an honorary doctorate degree.³

Prof. Akanji, a former Vice-Chancellor of Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, and Federal University of Technology, Minna, retired in 2021. He is a respected scholar in the field of Biochemistry.

The University Management, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, congratulated the distinguished academics on their well-deserved recognition. This honor underscores the University of Ilorin’s commitment to acknowledging outstanding academic achievements and service.
