MOSHOOD ABIOLA POLYTECHNIC (MAPOLY) SHUT DOWN INDEFINITELY OVER STUDENT PROTESTS
The authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, have announced the immediate closure of the institution, effective from Monday, January 13, 2025, until further notice.
The decision to shut down the polytechnic was made to ensure the safety of lives and properties, following a protest by some students over the management’s decision to verify their National Diploma results from their former schools.
According to a statement released by the polytechnic’s management, the verification exercise is aimed at rooting out fake results, and the management has expressed its zero-tolerance stance on the issue.
The statement advised students to stay away from the campus in their own interests, while assuring parents and the general public that timely updates would be provided as events unfold.
The closure of the polytechnic is expected to affect academic activities, and students are eagerly awaiting a resolution to the issue.
The management’s decision to verify results has been seen as a bold step towards maintaining academic integrity, but it remains to be seen how the situation will unfold in the coming days.
