KWARA STATE UNIVERSITY (KWASU) GETS NUC ACCREDITATION FOR 10 NEW ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES
The Kwara State University (KWASU) has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to run 10 new programs from the 2024/2025 academic session.
The approval, which was contained in a letter to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, marked a significant milestone for the institution. The letter, signed by the commission’s acting director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Ag. Executive Secretary, stated that the approval was based on the results of assessments from the resource verification visit carried out by panels of experts to the proposed academic programs.

The approved programs include Estate Management, Geography, Urban and Regional Planning, Mining Engineering, Marketing, Sociology, Criminology and Security Studies, Physiology, Human Anatomy, and Cyber Security.
According to the NUC, the programs are to be run in full-time mode, and the university is expected to provide adequate human and material resources for their development and growth.
Reacting to the approval, Professor Jimoh described it as “timely and a reflection of the university’s readiness to train quality human resources that will impact society.” He noted that the approval brings the number of undergraduate programs run by KWASU to 80 and praised the staff of the institution for working tirelessly to secure the approval.
The approval is a significant boost to KWASU’s academic offerings and is expected to attract more students to the institution.
