OAU Management Commends Federal Government for Suspension of Mining Activities on Campus
Management of the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife has commended the federal Government for suspending mining activities on its campus indefinitely.
The University is also calling on security agencies to ensure that the miners adhere strictly to the directive.
The recent resurgence of land grabbing activities and encroachment on the Obafemi Awolowo University estate is utterly deplorable and unacceptable.
The illegal encroachment and artisanal mining on the University’s land not only undermines the rule of law but also jeopardizes the safety, security, and well-being of students, staff, and faculty.
We strongly urge the relevant authorities to take prompt and decisive action to protect the University’s property, restore the campus’s integrity, and ensure the preservation of our esteemed educational institution.
