EAUEDOYO VC meets with New Oyo Police Area Commander, discusses collaboration towards improving security


New Oyo Police Area Commander, Olufunmilayo Oke visits Alayande University Management 

…Vice Chancellor, Olaniyan pleads for collaboration towards improving security

The Area Commander, Oyo Area Command of the Nigeria Police, ACP Olufunmilayo Oke today paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan at his Erelu Office.

The Police Chief, flanked by some top officers of the command hinted the Vice Chancellor that his visit was aimed at familiarizing himself with his Command and Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo remained topmost to him. “I am happy to be here today as part of my familiarization visits to places in my Command. The topmost on my agenda is to ensure security of lives and properties of people in my Command and your university is key to me. My doors are open and I am very much ready for collaboration with the university management. I will want to be relating with Students’ Union Executive to mitigate unrest among students. Mr. Vice Chancellor, I assure you that with your university’s support, together we shall make our community safer. I thank the Vice Chancellor and your management team for the honour”.

In his response, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan expressed his profound appreciation to the Area Commander for the visit. According to the University Chief Executive, “I am happy to receive you and your team on behalf of the University Management. I am particularly glad that you decided to visit us as a foremost educational institution. Available records before I became the pioneer Vice Chancellor showed that there were positive synergies between the defunct college and the Nigeria Police under this Command. I am happy to state that we have built on that tradition and our institution, being an institution that operates under two DPOs- Atiba and Oyo West has always enjoyed the support of police personnel in curbing social vices and unrest among students.

As a university that takes security issues very seriously, the Governing Council under the leadership of Professor Ayoade Olayiwola Ogunkunle set up a Council Committee on Security chaired by Dr. Chris Bola Olapade. The committee has your officers among its members. As a Management, we have a Directorate of Campus Security headed by Dr. Adebayo Salako, a former Police Officer and CSP Cyprian Ugwoke (rtd.) as the Chief Security Officer. I can assure you that we are not taking security matters for granted, and therefore, we shall be ready to collaborate with your leadership on issues bothering on security. On behalf of the University Management, I congratulate you on your new posting as the Area Commander and wish you a successful stay at the command and by extension, Oyo town”, the VC submitted.

On the entourage of the Area Commander were DSP Adio Mariam, Administrative Officer; ASP Idiogbe Christopher, Station Officer and CPL Olanrewaju Saidat, Area Commander’s Orderly while the Vice Chancellor’s team comprised Professor ‘Tunde Salawu, the Deputy Vice Chancellor; Mrs. Olubunmi Siju’ Asunmo, Registrar; Mr. Olawole Adebayo Ojetola FCA, Bursar; Dr. Serifat Mojisola Asiru, Acting University Librarian, Dr Chris Bola Olapade, Chairman, Council Committee on Security; Dr Adebayo Salako, Director, Directorate of Campus Security; Mrs. Funmilola Bamigbola, Secretary, Directorate of Campus Security and Mr. Oluwagbemiga Ogunkunle, Principal Assistant Registrar/Vice Chancellor’s Office.
