In a groundbreaking move to foster collaboration in agricultural education and research, Sky Farm, located in Siun, Ogun State, has announced its partnership with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).

The initiative was aimed to bolster training and research opportunities for students while revitalising agricultural practices in the region.

During a meeting held today, April 15, 2024, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, stressed the importance of returning to agriculture and leveraging the expertise and resources available at Sky Farm.

He highlighted the significance of the Career Services and Linkages Unit (CSLU) of the University, and opportunities in agriculture, emphasising the interconnectedness between agricultural practitioners and enthusiasts.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed his gratitude for the partnership with Sky Farm, envisioning a future where more individuals actively engage in agricultural activities.

He reiterated FUNAAB’s Tripodal Mandate of Teaching, Research, and Extension services, restating the University’s role in driving agricultural innovation and development.

One of the key outcomes of the partnership was the generous endowment of 100,000 Naira to Mr. Hezekiah Ojuola, a 2023 graduate of the Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics (ABG), College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM).

Mr. Ojuola, who emerged as the Best Graduating student in his Department, exemplifies resilience and determination, having worked as a bricklayer and motorcycle rider (popularly known as Okada) to fund his education.

His story embodies the transformative power of education and agricultural empowerment.

Besides, the Management of Sky Farm pledged ongoing support by promising an annual 100,000 Naira award to the Best Graduating student in the Department.

Meanwhile, as this partnership continues to flourish, it is expected to pave the way for greater participation and impact in agricultural endeavours, ultimately contributing to the socio-economic development of the community and beyond.
