LASU NEW ACTING DEAN STUDENT AFFAIRS ON TOUR OF CBT CENTRE, EXAM VENUES, ADVISES STUDENTS TO FOLLOW EXAM PROTOCOL & ASSURES OF A HITCH-FREE EXAM

With the 2nd semester 2022/2023 academic session examination of Lagos State University (LASU) steadily in full flight and recording positive progress, the new Acting Dean, Students’ Affairs, Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan has embarked on the tour of key places, such as the Computer Based Test (CBT) Centre and examination venues, in a move for him to have first hand information and see the progress made.

The tour took off on Monday, 13 November till Wednesday, 15 November 2023 and he said he was satisfied with the level of progress made and asked all stakeholders, students, invigilators and supervisors to work together for a seamless examination.

At the end of the tour, in an interview with CIPR CREW in his office, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos, he noted that the first day had a few teething challenges, which was due to the overzealousness and anxiety on the part of the students, but, the slight issues were quickly fixed with the support of the Students’ Affairs staff, ICT Technical team and the security personnel on ground.

Speaking further, “students are emerging leaders and must always act like one. Instructions are part of examination protocol and they must follow them and adhere strictly to such instructions. With the personnel from the Students’ Affairs and others, we were able to fix the problem and the students were able to write their examination at the CBT Centre on Monday. We are fine, no casualties and I hope it will be like this till the end”, he quipped.

Dr. Fatai-Abatan assured the students that the examination would be hitch-free and solicited for their maximum cooperation. On their welfare, especially at the CBT Centre, he averred that enough canopies and chairs were already provided for them to stay at the transit point before they were called to go in and write their papers. He enjoined the students to always stick to their schedules as well as their sections as stipulated on their dockets.

On support, he applauded the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM for her support to the Students’ Affairs Division as well as her welfare package for the students, in the area of scholarship and various empowerment programmes. Like Oliver Twist, on behalf of the students, he asked for more.

Also, he equally extended his gratitude to the University Management for their support and called on all stakeholders to continue to give their best to the University in order to achieve more successes.

Finally, he saluted the World class students of the University for their unflinching support and understanding. He believes the University would soon be the best in West Africa according to the vision of the Vice Chancellor.

Other places visited include the Faculty of Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Arts, Science, Law, Mass Communication & Media Studies, the female hostel, almost completed new hostels, all at the main campus.

There are plans to visit the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM), Ikeja and the Epe Campus, Epe to monitor the progress of the examination before the 2022/2023 Academic Session comes to an end.

The Acting Dean, Students’ Affairs was accompanied on the tour by some staff of the Division, Miss Iyabo Shafau, Mr Ibrahim Aroyewun, Mr Saheed Oladejo and Mr. Cornelius Adeleye.
