NLC STRIKE: MEDICAL AND HEALTH WORKERS UNION OF NIGERIA (MHWUN) DECLARES INDEFINITE STRIKE

Furtherance to the earlier resolutions of the joint emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress held on Tuesday, 7th November, 2023, and subsequent zoom meeting of NLC National Executive Committee held today, 13th November, 2023 ,I have been directed by the National Leadership of the Union to direct you to immediately mobilize our members in your State Council to commence indefinite strike action from mid-night of Tuesday, 14th November, 2023.

This action is due to Government failure to address the demands of the Organize Labour over the abduction and brutalization of the NLC President and other Labour Leaders by the Imo state sponsored thugs during a peaceful protest against the anti-Workers policy of the State Government and Federal Government failure to fully implement the Memorandum of Understanding it signed with the Organize Labour to cushion the harsh economic effects of the fuel subsidy removal, which expired on 31 October, 2023.

You are therefore, requested to ensure strict compliance to this directive without fail and update the National Secretariat on your level of participation in this struggle, please.
