LASU SCHOOL OF TOURISM, FILM, PERFORMING ARTS AND CULTURE STUDIES INITIATES COLLABORATION WITH NIHOTOUR AS REPS OF TRAINING SCHOOL VISIT MANAGEMENT

As the University continues to put in place groundworks for the commencement of academic activities at the LASU School of Tourism, Film, Performing Arts and Culture Studies, the institution, on Tuesday, 15th August 2023 hosted officials of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR) to engage them in discussions that would aid the smooth take-off of the School.

The three-member NIHOTOUR team led to the meeting by Dean of the School, Prof. Tunji Azeez, and the Head of Department, Dr. Adeyinka Olarinmoye, was received by members of the University Management at the Senate Chamber, First Floor, Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Main Campus, Ojo.

Prof. Azeez, in his introduction, explained that the visit was aimed at initiating a collaboration with NIHOTOUR as a veritable partner in the area of tourism and culture. He expressed optimism that the collaboration would place the School on a sound footing when it begins to admit students.

While welcoming the team, the Acting VC averred that the LASU School of Tourism, Film, Performing Arts and Culture Studies is the first of its kind in Nigeria and it is established with a vision to add value to the tourism, film and culture sectors based on the understanding that the sectors would add value to the nation’s economy. She also revealed that the School is poised to train personnel who would drive the sector.

Finally, she expressed LASU’s readiness to develop a formal partnership with the NIHOTOUR.

The LASU School of Tourism, Film, Performing Arts and Culture Studies is designed to be a one-stop destination for programmes relating to tourism, culture, performing arts and film, not only for Nigerians but for the entire West African region, and the world in general.
