BUK DEBUNKS FAKE CIRCULAR ON N50,000 PAYMENT, WARNS STUDENTS AGAINST MISINFORMATION

Bayero University, Kano has issued a strong warning to students and the general public over a fake circular currently making the rounds on social media, falsely directing students from the former Faculty of Arts and Islamic Studies to pay N50,000 before 1st December 2025.

The forged notice, which was allegedly signed by one Saifullahi Dahiru “for Registrar,” listed the Faculty of Languages, Linguistics and Theatre Arts, the Faculty of History and Development Studies, and the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Sharia as those expected to make the payment.

In a statement released by the Director, Public Affairs, Lamara Garba, mnipr, on behalf of the Registrar, the University categorically dismissed the circular, describing it as fake and lacking any official approval or legitimacy.

According to the statement, no authorised body of the institution has mandated such payment, and the University does not issue financial directives through random social media messages or unauthorised individuals.

The management urged students, parents and stakeholders to ignore the fraudulent notice and rely strictly on verified information from official channels such as the University website, the Directorate of Public Affairs and recognised faculty offices.

The institution added that it remains committed to safeguarding its community from falsehoods and will take appropriate action against anyone attempting to mislead or extort students.

The University advised the public to remain vigilant and follow only credible announcements issued through approved platforms.
