The Lagos State University (LASU) management has formally distanced itself from a recently circulated video titled “Bandits Prank on Lasuites,” released by Datreez Entertainment TV on the evening of Friday, 5th December 2025. The footage, which shows individuals dressed in a manner that caused alarm, entering the university campus with equipment, reportedly stirred fear and anxiety among students.
In an official press statement dated Sunday, 7th December 2025, LASU emphasized that no authorization or approval was given for the filming of the video on its premises. The university described the unauthorized recording as a serious breach of campus regulations and unacceptable behavior.
LASU unequivocally condemned any content or acts suggesting banditry, terrorism, or violent extremism, noting the sensitive security environment in Nigeria at present. The institution reiterated its commitment to maintaining a peaceful, secure academic atmosphere and underscored that pranks which incite fear or disrupt campus harmony have no place within the university community.
Students and staff were urged to stay vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the LASU Security Unit.
The statement was signed by Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi A., Deputy Registrar and Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations at Lagos State University, reaffirming the school’s dedication to the safety and wellbeing of all its members.
