LASU NAMED MOST DIGITALLY INNOVATIVE UNIVERSITY OF 2025
Lagos State University (LASU) has been named the Most Digitally Innovative Nigerian University of the Year 2025 by The Octagon Media Group, reinforcing its growing reputation as a leader in technology-driven education.
The award was presented at the organisation’s 12th Anniversary and Champions Awards Ceremony held on Thursday, 27 November 2025, at Leotori Halls & Lodge, Abule Taylor, Lagos.
According to The Octagon Media, LASU earned the honour for its remarkable growth in digital innovation, integration of educational technology and sustained commitment to improving teaching, research and administration through modern digital platforms. The organisers also commended the institution’s strong emphasis on digital literacy, administrative efficiency and technology-enabled community engagement.
A delegation from LASU, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Oseni Taiwo Afisi, received the award on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM. Other top officials present included the Bursar, Mr Said Babatunde Olayinka (represented by Deputy Bursar, Mr Kunle Adebesho); the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Lawal Adigun; the Director of Internal Audit, Mrs Margareth Ogunkoya; Dr Lateef Sekoni of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office; Dr Lateef Salami, Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor; and the Deputy Registrar and Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations (CIPR), Mrs Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile.
The award marks another milestone for the University and aligns with the Vice-Chancellor’s drive to position LASU as a premier African institution distinguished by innovation and academic excellence.
The Octagon Champions Award is an annual event that recognises organisations and individuals contributing to national development, human empowerment and societal progress.
