UNIBEN students protest over persistent power outages and the lack of water supply in their hostels
It was gathered that the students’ protest was to demand from the university management the urgent need to restore public electricity to the campus and water supply to students residing in the university hostels.
Students of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Ugbowo campus, on Wednesday, took to the ever-busy Ugbowo-Lagos Expressway to protest persistent power outages and the lack of water supply in their hostels.
It was gathered that the students’ protest was to demand from the university management the urgent need to restore public electricity to the campus and water supply to students residing in the university hostels.
The students expressed frustration over a recent increase in the transport fare for the intra-campus shuttle bus services.
Meanwhile, at the time of filing this report, the management of the university had not yet issued an official statement regarding the protest.
